Barbarian Class for BECMI

by Felzet

I realize that in BECMI a barbarian could just be a Fighter with optional skills such as muscle, wrestling or survival, among others. Chris Perkins in an interview on Games Radar said something similar even about 5e barbarians "And you know, what is the difference between a Barbarian and a Fighter? A Barbarian could almost be a subclass [for a] Fighter if we were designing this game from scratch."

Still, I thought I'd make a Barbarian character class for BECMI just for fun. The intention is to keep the class balanced the other character classes in Rules Cyclopedia and capture the barbarians' conventional berserker theme. So here goes:

Prime Requisite: Strength and Dexterity
Experience Bonus: 5% 13-15,10% 16-18 for Strength and Dexterity
Hit Dice: 1d10 per level up to 9th level. Starting with 10th level, +3 hit points per level, and Constitution adjustments no longer apply.
Maximum Level: 36
Armor: Leather only, plus shields.
Weapons: Any.
Special Abilities: Smash (at level 1), other Fighter Combat Options at Level 9 like a standard Fighter , Multiattack like a standard Fighter. No Lance Attacks or Set-Spear vs. Charge.
Save Throws: Same as Fighter
Experience Table: Same as Fighter

Higher Experience Levels: At Name Level can be addressed as a Warrior King. Two tracks at 9th level for Barbarians would be "Tribal" Barbarians which would manage a tribal government of various kinds, and "Nomadic" Barbarians, which would have similar pros and cons to neutral aligned traveling fighters or Knights, including swearing an oath to a tribe, penalties for not fulfilling duties, requests for sanctuary with other tribes etc,.
