Chokers revised
by Marc SaindonRather than being Fey (perhaps they are tied to the fear of suffocating underground), maybe the lore could be that in the last of Kogolor, during the Great Rain of Fire, these were the unlucky, neither saved by the Immortals (who brought other survivors to the Hollow World) or granted admission in the dwarven refuges (this might be the great crime of the Rot Dwarves).
So they eked an existence, slowly dying from the Great Rain's radiation, like Fallout ghouls or mutants. Perhaps some found an Unseelie patron to help them survive, but the high cost of becoming a minion race, slowly altered through fey magic (which allows to keep the FR Fey origin of the Choker).
The current generations of Chokers have degraded mentally that while they can still grasp some form of unintelligle language among themselves, they are pretty much feral now. None of their history has survived with them, and the Dwarves themselves are ignorant of a common origin.
A current role as a bogeyman is that the Chokers could target the already rare dwarven children, either as a food source or as a tribute to the dark unseelie entity they are serving.
