College of Sound Advice: Bards for the Gnomes of Serraine
by Marc SaindonRather than go towards the path of Gnomes playing cacophonic music enjoyed by only other Gnomes on instruments of their own making ('electricbagpipedrumsthingamagig'), maybe in this chaotic landscape the Bards are instead (sort of) bastions of stability, offering a mix of life advice, dad jokes, and tricks of the trade, often using the Mending spell to help out Gnome inventors. Gnomes of Serraine are actually competent, unlike the joke race of the Tinker Gnomes. Maybe they start out like Artificers like many other Gnomes, but take to teaching later on in life (thus multiclassing as Bards) and use their lessons as Inspiration rather than sing an epic.
