Deflect

My latest idea for adjusting the Deflect ability:

Deflect allows the character to subtract an amount of damage equal to 10 or the defending character's level, whichever is higher. Damage may never be reduced below 0. This ability can only be used a limited number of times per round as shown on the Weapon Mastery chart.

The advantage with this system is that it reduces the number of dice rolls per round.
