The Drengr (5.5e Fighter Champion subclass)

by Marc Saindon

Mostly a re-skin using the 'drengr' compliment instead of 'champion' to keep some cultural immersion going when campaigning in the Northern Reaches, as a way to keep differentiating the Champion subclass with the Jarl's own champion.

These guys would be your rank-and-file vikings and norse warriors, rather than have everyone be a Berserker Barbarians (Rage should be a Feat for non-Lawful Fighters, and the Barbarian Class subsumed as a background rather than a Class of its own, but that's my take). They probably have builds to handle spears (a cost effective weapon), axes and hatchets (who also double for utility) and daggers. And they handle round wooded shields.

At one point during a raid in the Isle of Dawn, one eccentric viking was wearing a helmet adorned with cow horns, much to the dismay of his fellow warriors, and the raided folk in Dunadale caught glimpse of this man, and ever since, they've ALL been described this way in the Alphatian Empire. This has caused endless cringe in Ostland.
