I was thinking about what this journey might have been like, especially during the first couple of centuries.

• Massive Earthquakes
• Radioactive/Magical Storms with random effects
• Poison Rain
• Spirits and Fey arriving to heal Mystara. Random good magical effects
• Entropic creatures and monster summoned by the destruction
• Elementals summoned by accidental magical effects.
• Forest Fires
• Sudden Winters and Extreme cold/Snow storms

Linking this back to the main topic, the elves and other locals would have needed shelter at different times. Earthquakes could have preserved some of these cities underground to this day.
