a small automaton you send ahead of yourself, which maps out an area and returns to its point of origin after 15 minutes or so (it's a clockwork roomba or a steampunk bb8). if it doesn't return, it's because of a monster or a trap. recently developped to explore Falun caves (although may met setbacks as kobolds start to attach explosive charges or other traps on a returning mouse)
