Geonid Theocracies

by WingofCoot

The geonid culture has no national borders or specific territory. They are found almost throughout the southern hemisphere, avoiding only areas with very dangerous or hostile inhabitants (such as Daedalia Planum and Noctaurus) or those without rock near the surface (such as dune seas or the polar ice cap).

They have no political unity or government above the individual band level, but much of their culture is shared due to the link between their religion and their physical form. Each band is ruled by its geonid priest (see "The Geonid Path" above).

Geonids usually live in caves, but each band will move from place to place; since a band may remain in the same area for as much as 20 or 30 local years, these often seem like permanent settlements to humans, but not to the geonids themselves.
