For poor villages and towns
A successful and semi-retired rogue turned businessman named Anthon Nenetsk came up with an interesting idea in 1006 AC. 18th level thief, Str 13, dex 16, con 15, int 13, wis 14, and char 14, Human, (male), and age 46.
He has a team on the lookout for children that could become a wizard. He will pay the tuition of the student for up to eight years at the Glantri Great School of Magic. However, the student must take a job (given to them) after eight years through Anthon Nenetsk contacts. For the next 20 years!! The contracts were written by a team of experts including a few wizards.
The family of the child will get 80 dc and the town will get 40 dc upon the child, parents and town mayor/elder signing the contract. Plus more dc after eight years (see below).
The wizard will be given a job in either:
spellcasting services
scroll making
or
as a potion making
...Companies pays for the spellcasters permits but not the wizard's taxes (However, will withhold them and send into the correct office).
Spellcaster by maximum spell level/ monthly pay
1st level: 500 gp or dc
2nd level: 750 gp or dc
3rd level: 1000 gp or dc
4th level: 1250 gp or dc
5th level: 1500 gp or dc
The Breakdown
wizard 20% (more like 10% - 1dc after taxes)
wizard family or if an orphan (the orphanage) 20%
town/village: 10%
Anthon Nenetsk : 50%
Example: John Doe after 8 years graduates from the GSoM as a 4th level wizard with a maximum spell level of 2nd level.
Starts at 750 dc
The company will pay John Doe about 75 dc per month (150 dc but withholds about 75 dc per month for taxes)
Doe's Family (Father, Mother and two siblings) will receive 150 dc per month
Doe's town/village will receive 75 dc per month
Anthon Nenetsk gets 375 dc per month
and after 20 years the wizard will be free to do as they please. The companies may let the wizard stay on an extra year (with all dc going to the wizard).
Many children will come to hate the contract, many will just go through the motions until the contract is over, a couple will try to run away, and a handful will be happy even proud they are supporting their family and village/town.
Some of the poorer villages and towns will even seek Mr. Nenetsk, hoping to save their villages/towns through their children. The children get an education, will become a wizard and even make more dc than most peasants will ever see plus the family and the town makes some dc.
