The Green Women
by Sean MeaneyFar beyond the Coast of the Continent of Brun is the land of the Green Women. The language of the Women appears to be a distant and primative dialect variation of the Wallara in the Far West beyond the Red Coast. They consume the sprouting seeds of grains collected and kept together as scum on fresh water ponds as a raft of seed. Sometimes they are drunk if the seeds ferment too long, yet the longer the better for it contains more sugar. If this method of handling grain sounds familiar to Ale Brewers it should. Some of their ponds contain a dark and well fermented substance similar in taste and alcoholic potency to ale, the darkest due to repeated use.. Large rafts of fermenting sprouts can poison fish with alcohol making them drunk and slow to move and thus easily caught. Cakes of the fish meat and sprouted and fermented grain are baked in fire as a meal.
Though Human their skin, hair, and eyes have a dark green colour and they are for the most part alone and without men. Variations on their culture of Ale brewing exists across Mystara though they use it not as Ale for consumption but for a means of fishing and food production.
