The Halfling Character Class - Revised
by Jim BobbIn my OD&D campaign, the demihuman classes have been expanded to allow their players more of a chance to participate in the higher level games in the CM and M series of adventures. As with the revised Elf Class and Dwarf Class, the revised Halfling Class as given in the Rules Cyclopaedia, p26 is unchanged, except as outlined below.
Prime Requisite: Dexterity.
Other Requirements: Constitution of 9 or greater.
Experience Bonus: +5% for Dexterity of 13-15, +10% for Dexterity of 16 or greater.
Hit Dice: 1d6 per level with Constitution adjustments, up to 9th level. Starting at 10th level, +2 hit points per level and Constitution adjustments no longer apply.
Weapon Skills: 3 initial, +1 at levels 3, 6, 9 and 11. +1 additional skill every 200,000xp beyond 3,600,000xp.
Other Skills: 3 initial, +1 at levels 5, 9 and 3,600,000xp. +1 additional skill every 500,000xp beyond 3,600,000xp.
Maximum Level: 12th level.
Armour Allowed: All; Shields allowed.
Weapons Allowed: All small melee weapons, sling, blowgun, dart and short bow.
Special Abilities: Extra Languages (Halfling), Combat Bonuses (-2 AC bonus when fighting humanoid opponents of Larger-than-Man-size, +1 bonus to Individual Initiative, +1 bonus To Hit with missile weapons), Thief Abilities (Hide in Shadows and Move Silent) Fighter Manoeuvre (Set Spear vs Charge), Automatic Half Damage from Magic at 8th Level, Fighter Combat Options at 10th level, 2 Attacks per Round at 10th level, Automatic Half Damage from Breath Weapons at 12th Level
