Only the first few level of their tunnels is human-height, and this is only used for storing large or outsized treasures. All the other levels are only four feet high, with human-height access tunnels leading from level to level. The highest security vaults have tunnels only two feet high leading to them, and gnomes crawl along the passageways, pushing chests on carts to deliver them to their vaults.
The gnomes use Rockhome lizards to tow carts through the tunnels, which also feature complex locks and castle-style guard rooms.
