Expanding Qeodhar: Pact of the Jolasveinar Warlock

by Marc Saindon

With Qeodhar being a potential Mystaran Iceland counterpart, maybe there is a possibility of integrating icelandic folklore, like having a major Hag - Gryla - hidden in the mountains (or in some unseelie region of the Feywild or faerie world).

It could be possible to make a pact with Gryla, becoming one of her 'children' as a Yule Lad (see the movie 'Rare Exports' for scarier versions of Santa Claus). The transition would make one both and Warlock and pick up the Ravenloft Hexblood lineage. One of the initial cost is to take on a unique vice that you must always indulge in every day (you can fail the attempt, but have to try). So if you're Dinedasher, you always refuse to pay for your meals at inns and taverns, running off when it's time to pick up the tab. Gryla (as the DM) probably picks the specific task the character must indulge in as part of the pact. Murder would probably be too heavy, jaywalking perhaps too light... the idea is that the task creates both a bit of chaos and gives the character with pact a reputation.
