Carlotina is the youngest daughter of the wizard Quelldomage. Her father doted upon her from the moment she was born, loving her perhaps more for the death of her mother in childbirth, and while he has been a devoted father to all of his daughters it is Charlie (as she is known to those who are close to her) that he worries about most. With good reason.

Charlie was educated first at home in Cockatrice, before being accepted in the Collegium Imperium in Sundsvaal, where she graduated top of her class – although she was also voted “wizard most likely to seek out and join the dark powers”. And while her father has pursued an essentially passive, patient and above all constructive life, Charlie is, to put it mildly, the opposite.

After graduating she travelled to the frontier in Norwold and took up adventuring. Having shown a disconcerting habit of poking every dangerous source of power with a stick, she accepted a commission in the Alphatian Army and spent a few constructive years leading a light infantry company, racking up an impressive count of Thyatian Voltigeurs killed (and picking up a boltsmans wand, to which she is still attuned). When peace returned to the Isle of Dawn she returned to adventuring, recruiting her old adventuring colleagues into missions for the Alphatian Special Service, the Ministry for Ungentlemanly Warfare. During this time she embraced many forms of dark power to boost her spellcasting potential, taking risks with magical games of chance that paid off, leaving her with extraordinary intelligence.

She is an awesome force in battle, but on occasion a danger to herself and her comrades – her fearless approach to combat has rendered her invaluable to her adventuring and her military colleagues.

She still scouts for talent for the Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare, primarily seeking out talented young adventurers who aren’t so much interested in doing the right thing but who will acquiesce to do very wrong things for the right cause.

In her personal life she views the adventurers she travels with as friends, and while there have been many companions her father and sisters worry that she’ll never settle down with a single partner. Her personal relationships have been as fiery and destructive as her time adventuring.
Physical Appearance: Taking after her grandparents, Charlie is tall (5’10”), slim, and athletic, having the fiery colouration of a common Alphatian. She isn’t a spectacular beauty or renowned charmer, but she’s got the distinct advantage of a superb sense of style, makeup and dress coupled with a sense of confidence that comes of knowing (not believing) that she’s the smartest person in any room. She favours bright, fashionable colours of spider silk.

Personality: Confident and abrasive, quick to anger but forgiving, Charlie is the opposite of her father in most ways. She would rather have a good fight with you to get to the point than pussy foot around a subject. The passion she shows for the kill is also shown in all parts of her personal life. She relishes disagreement, but punishes betrayal.

Items Usually Carried: Not to put too fine a point on it, Charlie is armed to the teeth. She doesn’t go out looking for a fight, but she’s usually hoping for one.
Weapons: She has a boltmans wand obtained as a prize of war from a Thyatian victim (who had in turn taken it from a dead boltsman), a 6 charge 6d6 lightning bolt wand that can be recharged by casting lightning bolt back into the wand, to which she is attuned with an expert level of mastery. Depending on the nature of the fight, she can choose to use either her staff or elemental power or her staff of defending +4. She also carries wands of disintegration, firebolt, and acid arrows. While not being especially adept at fighting with daggers she does carry a dagger +3 of disengaging.
Protections: In addition to a ring of protection +4 she and on her other hand she wears a ring of safety. She also carries an amulet of mindmasking, which protects her from ESP and scrying.
Other Items: As befits an adventurer of her level, she has many other favoured magic items that go everywhere with her. Among other things, she has a scroll of shelter, often used to shuttle cargo around, and wands of woodform and illusion. She typically carries several potions, usually potions of speed, and superhealing among others. In her bag of holding there is always to be found a crystal ball, a flying carpet. Additionally, she usually has a pair of boots of speed and a displacer cloak to change into should the need arise.

She carries a range of mundane items, never leaving home without makeup, a mirror, a flask of rum, and a few hundred gold coins for spending money.

Spells: On an adventure she would select quite a different range of spells, but out and about in society a typical list for her might be:
Level 1: Charm Person, Sleep, Magic Missile (5), Dictation, Remove Hangover, Wideawake
Level 2: Continual Light, Detect Evil, Detect Invisible, Invisibility, Mirror Image, Savoir Faire
