Nawao ("Tropical" Goliath)

by Marc Saindon

While there are no Goliaths in Mystara, there are legends in Hawaiian mythology of large-sized men, the Nawao, so they might be retconned in. Traditionally, they would have had an understanding with the Makai, with the Nawao occupying the many mountains of Ierendi, while the Makai get the shores. Never numerous to start with, many Nawao were taken into the Hollow World (the "Makai region") were they prospered, while their numbers dwindled on the surface. They're still around in Ierendi, a rare sight though, and are believed to have a connection with the Atua (Polynesian Feywild), a form of "Polynesian Druidism" and Earth Elemental magic (which enhances their traditions of stonecarving), but where they still shine is in their roles as Fighters.

Lore:
Nawao
Goliath
