The Nøkk (Nix, Neck) is a water spirit related to Nixies, Fossegrims and Kvernknurr. It appears like a tall, gaunt humanoid with long arms ending in claws. Its hair, beard and body is covered in sea weeds. The Nøkk is a rival of the Fossegrim and both are excellent at musical instruments like the fiddle. The Nøkk is a more sinister creature though and is looking to drown humans and humanoids if they are not careful. The Nøkk usually stays in small lakes or rivers, but they can travel across land as well. They are able to shape change into beautiful stallions. A favourite trick of theirs is to lure victims onto their backs while in horse shape. Once the rider is seated, he must make a Save vs. Paralysis. Failure means the rider is unable to dismount as the horse begins its wild ride and leaps into the lake, pulling the rider into the water.

Invisibility to Mortals: Like all fairies, the Nøkk can become Invisible to Mortals. While invisible the Fossegrim is -4 to hit. It can remain invisible in combat.

Norse Fairies: One group of fairies made a deal with the Immortal Odin. Staying out of the war with the Immortals, Odin granted them protection on the Outer Planes of Vanaheim and Alfheim.

Terrain: Lake or river
