This strange semi-mineral creature has a shell in a pyramid form. It resembles a huge crab, with powerful pincers that can crush bone.

When it grows, it sheds its shell periodically. Since the shell is solid rock, and does not decompose, this leaves a great number of small stone pyramids scattered across the landscape.

This creature is found in the great dry wastes of Vaniae - high Tharsis and the remote southern hemisphere. (Technically, the Tharsis and southern populations are two different species, with subtly different shell structure, but they are identical for game purposes.)

[This creature is inspired by the pyramid-builder from Stanley G. Weinbaum's A Martian Odyssey, though that one was harmless.]
