Quickhand Guild - Secrets of the Minrothad Halflings: Items

by OneEyedZeal

Porthcawl Oil -- this substance is a carefully-managed craft of the oilmakers, it is extraordinarily flammable, sticky, and difficult to smother or douse. The alchemists of Guild Corser regularly complain that the creation of Porthcawl oil should be under their jurisdiction, but the Quickhand oilmakers have kept careful control of it.

Quickhand Pockets -- cleverly hidden pouches, compartments and false paneling added to potentially any kind of leatherwork, pottery and basketware. Can be sold locally, but valued most by those who travel abroad to help keep prized possessions safe from thieves and customs officials alike. Sometimes also woven into the linings of Verdier-made cloaks and clothing; never added to Hammer-made stonework or metalcraft (a taboo that mostly makes Quickhand halflings mock the dwarves as unimaginative and hating fun).

Glamercraft -- the making and decoration of objects that look impressively mystical, despite being entirely mundane. Craftmasters maintain a careful library of nonsense runes, eyecatching flourishes, and manufacturing sleight-of-hand. Rarely, glamercrafters turn their skill to making items that can be enchanted but don't easily detect as magical (most often using lead-imbued paints, or baffled latticework).

Strife Swine -- a breed of pig kept by Open Isle halflings that is generally bad-tempered, intensely territorial and shows antipathy to any non-halfling. Bandits, coastal pirates and even some Thyatian military raids have been soundly thrashed by militia forces of a few halfling swineherds and a whole lot of angry, aggressive pigs.

Mist Skiffs -- smaller halfling-crewed sailing ships, with a notably low freeboard and specially-woven sails enchanted to camoflage against the ocean waves. This makes them exceptionally hard to spot at a distance, allowing them to scout and covertly patrol.
