Ronowac and the Sea Monster Wars

by Håvard

Ronowac is a legendary hero of the Makai of Ierendi. He is described in Gaz4 p 52-53 in the section about Roister Island. That island still has a town named after the hero. The legend says that he cleared the island of sea monsters by cutting off a part of the island. The Gazetteer makes it seem like these legends aren't true, but this is Mystara so I suspect there could be a lot more to this myth.

Idea: What if the scourge of sea monsters that came upon the Makai were linked to the Levianthan that plagued King Milen? My idea is that King Milen's sea monster attracted a fleet of other monsters that caused havoc on undersea and coastal settlements at the time. Ronowac may or may not have changed the land masses around Roister Island (Nothing a Ring of Wishes could not have accomplished?), but perhaps his epic actions are the reason why these sea monsters didn't cause more of a disaster than they did?

Moreover, could this have sent Ronowac on his path to Immortality?

If Ronowac's actions were linked to King Milen's Leviathan, then his heroics would have taken place around BC1000, more or less when Nithian Explorers discovered the Ierendi Islands and quickly conquered them. Not sure if Ronowac would have tried to fight them off or if his adventures would have lead him away from the islands.

Depending on the timeline, could Jamie Honey-Creeper, the Neutral Shaman-Lich (Gaz4 p57) have been involved in these adventures?
