Savage Coast Traladarans and Heraldry

by Átila Pires dos Santos

This Coat of Arms were done by me and GP and were based on the official SC and KW coat of arms.

These are the Traladaran families that migrated to the SC c. 450 AC. The bordure indicates that it's a untitled (knight) nobility. Only the Hojahs (Bans, or Dukes, of Halag), Zvorniks (Hospodars, or Barons, of Svoga) and Vjekoslav (Bans of Kladanovic) are considered as titled nobility, but the Vjekoslav were not part of the nobility (titled or untitled) before 445 AC. There are no Hojahs at the SC until 452 AC.
The Dragomir-Mlakar coat of arms is actually a fusion of two independent coat of arms, of the Dragomir and the Mlakar families. The cover of X9 - Savage Coast shows many of these coats, as it's a picture of the Battle of Kastr Pass.
This "bordure rule" was used only by Traladarans before the lycanthropy wars and fell into disuse after that.

These are the coat of arms of the Traladaran City-states c. 900 AC. The canon ones were placed up and the non-canon, at the bottom. While the Mlakar family dropped the Danica ("the Morning Star") out of their CoA (replacing with the modern Zagora CoA), the Strnad kept it into their new CoA (Nova Svoga). As the "bordure rule" fell in disuse, the Dragomir family kept its coat of arms' bordure (Slagovich). Boyarski CoA shows Andrej himself, celebrating his conquest of the Hulean village. Gonica's ermine represent the Gonic Lupin fur. (Dragon 199 brings rules for furs and titled nobility, but I guess only Herath does use it)

The Traladaran city-states (of Traladara) c. 450 AC.
Halag's new CoA is a variant of the old Halag/Hojah CoA (and the same is true for the modern Hojah CoA). A similar variant, with a "more docile" and the Karameikan colours (white and blue) was designed for Halag after the fall of the Black Eagle.

The Marilenev and Radu families are related, but only on a distant past, and both beared the same Lymphad for that (Marilenev with open sail). While Karameikos was a Grand-Duchy, the Marilenev CoA was used for the city of Specularum, and the Marilenev family designed a new CoA for them. The Radu family also temporarily replaced the Lymphad with another ship design (restoring it after Mirros gained a new CoA after Karameikos became a Kingdom). The two daggers weren't present on the original (c.450 AC) Radu CoA.
It's possible that the distant Uthuinn CoA has some relationship with Marilenev/Radu CoA, even if it's peoples has nothing in common. It may be related with a Traladaran immigrant, part of the Marilenev/Radu family, that left Slagovich after 452 AC.

Islands of Minroth's Coat of Arms c. 450 AC. Harbortown bears Minroth's arrow and the Moon that is part of the current Corser CoA. The white star of Seahome CoA represents Calitha, and is still present at modern Meditor CoA (together with the black star that represents each guild of Minrothad).

Darokin CoA c. 450 AC, under the Attleson dynasty. The Eastwind Darokin CoA is also represented here).

Two variants of Thyatis CoA, the first being closer to DotE, while the second being identical to K:KoA.
