Religious Traladaran History

by Robin

Ok I tried for my gaming group to set a very rough timeline of the religious happenings and changes in Traladaran Lands (including some of Thyatis) from a compilation of most (i hope I have not forgotten sections) canon and some fanon

I am uncertain of this and welcome any help in correcting flaws and adding omisions

Ancient Traldar
Daros(Kagyar) original patron of the traldar added several immortals from the Peaple of the earth and people of the night(Taymorans) after 1700BC disater
Khoronus took leader role, about 1500BC
later exchanged by Ixion, about 1200BC

Tarsian Twelve, home on Mount Tarsus; Asterios(Asterius=trade, thieves)/Cthonos(Thanatos=Death)/Daros(Kagyar= craftmanship/dwarves)/Dianna(Diulanna= willpower, archery, moon)/Gaea(Djaea=Fertility, crops)/Helios(Ixion=Sun, Harvest)/Hela(Hel=Magic, stars)/Khoronus(Time, Wisdom, Rulership)/Panos(Faunus=Wine/Herdsmen)/Protios(Protius=Sea, sea travel)/Sonius(Ilsundal=Forest, Music)/Tarastia(Justice)/Tauros(Thor=War, valiant combat)/Terra(Earth)/Tyche(Luck)/Valeria(Valerias=Love, romance Passion)

before 1000BC
In ancient times, the land now called Karameikos as well as large sections of Thyatis, was the forest homeland of the Traldar, men and women so favored by the Immortals and allowed to live in these beautiful lands. The Immortals let the Traldar live happy, simple lives. The Traldar fished and hunted. The men spent most of their Time sporting with one another and offering praise to the Immortals.

But the Immortals knew that the happiness of the Traldar was to end. Far to the west, a race of evil beast-men was preparing to march through the easterly lands in search of booty, prisoners and more hospitable homelands. These beast-men had their own Immortal sponsor(s) equal in might to the patrons of the Traldar, so only victory between man an beast-man would determine the fate of the two races.

The Immortals descended to Lavv, a Traldar village, to find clever youths and give them secrets they could use to defeat the beast-men.
A female Immortal(Most possibly Valerias) visited Halav Red-Hair(Source HtH), a maker of stone knives, and taught him to forge weapons and armor of bronze. They also taught him the art of the sword and the strategy of warfare.
They visited Petra(most possibly Dianna and Panos), a maker of pottery, and taught her the art of the bow, the craft of medicine, the use of the potter’s wheel, the spinning of flax and the use of the loom.
They visited Zirchev(Most possibly Ilsundal, but also Hela, Panos), a huntsmen, and taught him how to tame and ride and fight from horses, how to train dogs to fight for their masters, how to walk silent like the cat, swim as the fish, see as the hawk.

1000BC degrading of original faith to almost diintegrasting individual faith in the Dark era in Traladaran lands, and arise of the cults of Halav, Petra, and Zirchev, since 0AC which in .500???.AC became the Church of Traladara
Rise of the Unholy Trinity(Hircismus/Leptar,Orcus,Goron/Demogorgon, , and influence(but not real temples) of several beastmen/Humanoid Immortals (Orcus, Wogar)
700BC probably because at the time Traladara was a land in great decadence. Chardastes reappeared, bringing also a new artifact, the Bell, and the competition with the Traladaran Three and the stuggle with Leptar restarted.
In 900 AC Achelos Chardastes tried to save Western Traladara from the Thyatian conquest, but ultimately failed. His followers however grew in numbers in Traladara in the following years, also because in the end Chardastes shelved his hostility toward the Thyatians and promoted a peaceful integration between Traladarans and Thyatians.

Church of Traladara
The Immortals of the Church of Traladara began with small shrines and individual followings from 500BC till 0AC
Halav The King, Leader. Estimated minor temples between 0 and 500AC After 500AC, introduction strongly in Traladaran Faith by the Dragonlord's Temple of the Shield (Source HtH)
Petra The Healer Estimated minor temples along coast between 0 and 500AC
Zirchev The Mage Estimated minor temples in Dymrak forest between 0 and 500AC
Aftr 500AC, merged together as followers increased.

The old Traladaran Immortals Asterius/Kagyar/Diulanna/Loki/Thanatos/Ilsundal/Valerias/Vanya.
After 500BC (the fall of Nithia) and before 500AC this group almost breaks apart on several mortal happenings and after 0(The crowning of The first Thyatian Emperor) Tyche, Thor, Faunus, Djaea, Hel, Protius and Tarastia; Break off the group and create indivildual temples of their own mostly in Thyatis lands, while the others still form as a singular multi-immortal faith for the new Thytians.
Ilsundal and Kagyar are also followed individually by the Elves and Dwarves, and Thanatos, being often seen as the bad agents set up secret temples, while all still adhering to the group. Hel slowly diminishes her influence in the group and returns to her hidden/1700BC survived temples of the Taymoran age.

Church of Karameikos
After 900AC(The Thyatian invasion) some old Traldar Temples of the Dark Ages of the immortals Asterius, Ilsundal, Kagyar, Valerias and Vanya in Traladaran Lands are reused by Thyatians. This caused Stefan Karameikos the 3rd with the help of his cleric friend Oliver Jowett in 970AC to create a new Church based on old precepts, and still created From the Church of Thyatis with some serious changes and discarding Loki, Diulanna, and though still acknowledging, rejecting Thanatos from all temples.

Some temples of these immortals resisted change into Church of Karameikos till 990AC, when they all became Church of Karameikos.
Asterius, Ilsundal, Kagyar, Valerias and Vanya become the main Immortals, as these were present in the Church of Thyatis as well in the ancient history of the Traladaran region as far as their research (and immortal directions) revealed. The now strongly opposing Thanatos and Hel.

The Unholy Trinity is added to this opposing list within a few years of their discovery by members of the Church of Karameikos (rougly 980AC)

971AC The Church of Karameikos added Chardastes to the list of immortals, albeit low in intrest and following as of yet
Somewhere before 1000AC, (after the B9 adventure and the recovery of the holy Bells from Elvyn's Sanctuary) this adventure brought Chardastes his faith to more prominence.
The Church of Karameikos probably see the potential first and added Chardastes to its pantheon already in 971 AC.

The Church of Traladara will eventually be 'forced' to do the same somewhat after 1000AC, as Chardastes in the end is perceived as Traladaran originally, and the Church of Karameikos discrinates between the followers of the Church of Karamekos and the Church of Traladara. Eventually Chardastes and the Church of Karameikos break up, and Chardastes is fully taken in the Church of Traladara, helping anybody asking for it.

Oliver Jowett becomes ill or dies, an internal war within the church as the two factions, Jowett’s (under Sherlane Halaran) and Aldric Oderbry’s, try to take control. This will be the next thing to civil war in Karameikos.Alfric as the opposition thinks they crush the Traladarans and spread their wealth out among the Thyatian followers.
Once Jowett steps down or dies, Oderbry plans to use considerable resources of the church to pressure Duke Stefan into declaring the rival Church of Traladara illegal, and to use the fighting Order of the Griffon to lay waste to his enemies in that church. Oderbry is a powder keg waiting to go off. When Jowett does step down or die, we’ll see a major war within the church as the two factions, Jowett’s (under Sherlane Halaran) and Oderbry’s, try to take control. This will be the next thing to civil war in Karameikos.
What he says; “Every true Karameikan is Thyatian, by blood or belief. Those who are not are little more than vipers clutched to the bosom of the State.”
What others say; “Oderbry is one of the reasons I rise at dawn. If I sleep any later, he’ll have me buried (Patriarch Jowett)”.
