Updating the Ylari minority in Ierendi

by Marc Saindon

So reading a bit on the Eternal Truth in Ierendi as a religion, it comes across as a bit dated, which one would expect for a book written in the 80s, aimed at an audience of suburban kids.

"The Sanctuary in Ierendi City is small, with no more than 300 followers, but its worshipers are dedicated fanatics. The Sanctuary only accepts the most serious worshipers, imposing strict principles of conduct that must be upheld at all times, and requiring absolute obedience of the Faithful."

Cut-and-paste fanatics are a bit dull, and limit this group mainly as an antagonist faction.

Rather in Ierendi, the Immortal Sinbad could play a more important role in the practices of the Eternal Truth, perhaps even the Sanctuary holds a Relic or Artefact associated with the Immortal, and the Ylari are interested in acquiring more.

Perhaps, cultural integration of the Ylari allows more kebab and shish taouk stands, and words like Admiral (derived from 'Amir') pop up in mainstream Ierendi vocabulary.

Maybe the Ylari community was displaced from Tel'Akbir by Thyatian loyalists. Another part of the community could be Casteless converts from Sind forced to emigrate into Ierendi. Both groups blending into something more "Indonesian".

The group could also maintain commercial ties between Sind and Ylaruam. The spice must flow.
