Who Rules: Lord Retameron Antonic (LG hm F11), and his wife Lady Halia (LG hf W9).
Who Really Rules: Duke Stefan Karameikos, to whom both Lord Retameron and Lady Halia have sworn fealty.
Population: Verge is very small; about 400 people live here.
Major Products: Livestock, trade.
Local Laws: None in addition to the Duke's Law.
Armed Forces: Verge is a peaceful town, so is garrisoned by only 50 F2s, commanded by Sergeant Alkin (NG hm F4). They are stationed in Lord Retameron's tower in the center of town.
Notable Mages: None known, except for Lady Halia herself and her apprentice (see below).
Notable Churches: None, but there are shrines to Koryis, Mealiden, Odin, and Petra.
Notable Rogues’ and Thieves Guilds: None. Verge is so small and peaceful, most thieves move on to bigger towns where the pickings are better and they have more anonymity, but there are usually several rogues looking to fleece the unwary noble on holiday.
Equipment Shops: Poor.
Adventurers’ Quarters: There is only one inn in town, and that is The Prancing Unicorn, run one Uther Henriksen (LG hm F3). The inn is quaint in a rustic sort of way, but the food is good and the lodgings are comfortable (fair/cheap).
Important Characters:
Teranon (NG hm F6) Teranon is Retameron's father, a long-retired warrior who was an adventuring companion to Duke Stefan. He was the leader of Verge before he retired and put the task in the more-than-capable hands of his eldest son, Retameron. He now spends his days tutoring younger warriors in swordplay and fishing on the Windrush River.
Andrya (LG hf W1); Andrya is an apprentice of Lady Halia, and can be seen most often around town or in Threshold, shopping for different shades of blue cloth, from which she makes her own robes.
Kraigg (LG hm F1); Kraigg is a follower and personal assistant to Lord Retameron, and is currently trying to woo Lady Halia's apprentice, Andrya.
Important Features in Town: Verge is an idyllic, sleepy little town, and not very much goes on here. Lord Retameron's rule is fair, the taxes are just, and the people are happy. Most people traveling to and from Threshold usually stop here for the night.
Antonic Tower: A large, five-story building in the middle of town. This is where Lord and Lady Antonic reside, and the town watch is garrisoned here. Any guests of Retameron's or Halia's also stay here in one of the thirty guest rooms.
Local Lore: Verge has been a success story in the Duchy, and Lord Retameron wants to keep it that way. He is a man among the people; always at the Prancing Unicorn, raising tankards with the locals. He likes the comfortable life, but will not hesitate to gird on his armor and weapons to fight when necessary. Verge has become a place for those who need to "get away from it all", and Duke Stefan himself has vacationed here several times.
