Some new/old creatures for Gold Box cosmology

by WingofCoot

These two were originally just a quick note (as the rest will be), not a full writeup:

Vorpalis
Armor Class: 4
Hit Dice: 8*
Move (Flying): 90' (30')
Attack: 1 slice
Damage: 1d8 + slicing
No. Appearing: 1-2 or 5-40 (see below)
Save As: F4
Morale: 6
Treasure Type: Nil
Alignment: Neutral
XP Value: 1,200

This two-dimensional life form resembles the silhouette of a large fish (3' to 5' long), and in its native plane it fills a similar role and acts similarly.

Contact with it acts as being struck by the edge of a two-dimensional plane, acting as a sword of slicing.

While usually fairly solitary, these creatures are occasionally encountered in deadly schools*.

*My original note actually says "No. Appearing 1d8x5 (1d2 for mortals)"

Mega-colossus*
Armor Class: 4
Hit Dice: 60*** or more
Move: 150' (50')
Flying: 360' (120')
Attacks: 2 fists or 1 stomp
Damage: 9d10 or special
No. Appearing: 1
Save As: F36
Morale: 12
Treasure Type: Varies
Alignment: Neutral
XP Value: 47,500 (4 PP) for 60 HD; add 1,000 XP for every HD over 60

A mega-colossus resembles a Rock Living Statue, but of absurdly greater scale: 180' tall or more! (Add 3' per HD beyond the base 60.)

A mega-colossus is immune to non-magical weapons, poison, gas, charm, sleep, and other mind-affecting spells.

Mega-colossi fly supernaturally, with no wings. They also have the power of planar travel: a mega-colossus can enter the Ethereal or Astral Planes from the Prime, or the reverse, or enter the Elemental Planes from the Ethereal or an Outer Plane by touching the boundary from the Astral. (However, shifting planes takes a full round - it cannot use this power to gain initiative or avoid attacks like a planar spider.)

When flying or in the Ethereal or Astral, a mega-colossus can only strike with its fist in combat. It cannot use both fists against the same enemy in the same round, unless attacking a very large creature (generally, 40' or more in length or height, such as a Purple Worm, large whale or dinosaur, or a baak - even giants are not large enough).

On the ground (of an earth-based planet, such as the normal world) it can stomp. This has the effect of an Earthquake spell cast at 36th level (155' square), which does not harm the mega-colossus - it is much too large to fall into any crack!

These enormous stone constructs are generally made by Immortals as bodyguards on journeys through the Astral.

I think this was inspired by the AD&D idea of dead gods as massive statues in the Astral, and the 3E ELH "Colossus" monster.
