Victor Von Wulf and the Wulf Academy of Wizardry

by Aoz

Victor Von Wulf (Born on– 10/10/966) is a prominent Glantri Wizard and genius in logicians, mathematician of magic and philosophers of the Enlightenment. As a representative of the Glantri of thought realism, Wulf developed, as his most prominent accomplishment, the ideas of transcendental calculus in magical formulas and equations . It was only in the 1010 AC that Wulf's law of transcendental law of magic mathematics implementation has really gained a lot of ground in the magic community. After, the Day of Dread and learning of the the Nucleus of the Spheres: Wulf has became one of the most prolific speakers against the use of the Nucleus of the Spheres making a few enemies but also gaining many supporters.

In philosophy, the Wulf is most noted for being a realist, his conclusion that our existence is, for the most part, is the best possible one that the Immortals could have allowed, an idea that some often laugh at. Most of the works of Wulf is a combination of scholastic with scientific data that try to predict magical outcomes.

Wulf has made major contributions magic theory, monster biology, herbal medicine, geology, linguistics, and ancient technology [Blackmoor]. He has written works on Draconic Philosophy [Popular with Hatchlings in the Great Dragon Kingdom], Glantri politics, Glantri law, Glantri ethics, Immortal theology, Blackmoor history, and magical theory. Wulf's contributions to this vast array of subjects were scattered in various learned journals, in tens of thousands of letters, and in unpublished manuscripts. He has written in several languages, primarily in Glantri , Elven, Dragon, Dwarven, Alphatia and Minotaur.

In Life, so far:

Victor Von Wulf (Born on– 10/04/966) to Wilhelm Von Wulf and Elizabeth Wulf was born into the world a quarter past midnight.

His father died from a accident the Glantri Great School of Magic when he was six years old, and from that point on he was raised by his mother.

Wulf's father had been a Professor at the Glantri Great School of Magic , and the boy later inherited his father's personal library. He was given free access to it from the age of seven. While Wulf's schoolwork was largely confined to the study of a small canon of authorities, his father's library enabled him to study a wide variety of advanced studies and magical works that otherwise wouldn't have been an option till late in life for most wizards. Access to his father's library, largely written in Alphatian, also led to his proficiency in the Alphatian language, which he achieved by the age of 12. He also composed 300 hexameters of Alphatia verse, in a single morning, for a special event at school at the age of 13.

In 4/980 he enrolled in the Glantri Great School of Magic at age 14, and completed his basic magical couse in 12/982. He defended his Disputation on the Metaphysical Disputation on the Principle of Magical individualism, which addressed the principle that wizards must be free learn and develop in their own way. Wulf earned a Award in Philosophy on 2/983. He published and defended An Essay on Life and Entropy, arguing for the Sphere's need to balance out the scales of the universe, in 12/983. After one year as scholarly student, in 984 he finished all his studies at the Glantri Great School of Magic . He was advised to get some real world experience then come back and take the Graduation exam.

In early 986, at age 19, Wulf wrote his first book, Mathematics of the Arcane, which was also his habilitation thesis, which he defended in 3/ 986. He then went on to adventure with a Dwarven warrior name Thramraed Grimbrow, an Elven Enchantress named Minuvae Petzorwyn, and Prugrace Proudhollow a female halfling. After, almost 5 years of travel and adventure everyone somehow came back alive, more experienced and a lot richer. He wrote a few papers like the Basic Principles of Adventuring and the Anatomy of a Rust Monster.

His next goal was to Graduation from the Glantri Great School of Magic . In 991, the Glantri Great School of Magic granted Wulf's application and he did not break the record for the fastest completion but he did tie for 3rd fastest. Wulf took the graduation test and passes with flying colors and worked as a tutor for struggling students

Wulf quickly submitted a thesis, which he had probably been working on during his adventurers. The title of his thesis was Magic Origins of the World . Wulf's paper is a theory where magic first came from and how it continues to change in the world we live in.

Wulf started thinking about building a school of magic but had grave concerns. He does not want to get in an duels and would prefer to avoid what happened in the Glantri Great School of Magic. In a duel, Wulf and his opponent each ran out of spells then continued in a pitiful way of two physically weak students trying to slap each other in submission. A teacher stepped in, called the match a draw after both student were exhausted and red in the face from the slapping. Wulf would prefer not to ever duel like that again.

Wulf delay his choice of a building a school for more then 5 years after the passing of his mother. He spent some of his time with clerics-outside of Glantri, necromancers and even some imps in intense discussions with about life and death. Until his adventuring companions came and dragged him all over Mystara during this time. Wulf wrote a few more papers like the Geology in the Seas of Dread, Anatomy of Purple Worm, and Transcendental Calculus in Magical Formulas and Equations.

He thought long and hard where to build his school and thought about a test of once took and smiled. Wulf begins getting permission from the Council to offer low to no cost Magically Training to normal citizens and to use "some" free land around Glantri. Wulf created a version of the spell Magnificent Mansion his version if you leave items in the Magnificent Mansion they will be there when you recast the spell "return". Now, Wulf can travel to where the student are, set up his Magnificent Academy, allowing the students to work at home and still get taught at his school.

The has about 3 teachers [9th, 11th and 13th levels] as of 6/1000 and Wulf Academy of Wizardry opens with about 14 students along with about 6 students (1d6 levels studying Wulf's Calculus in Magical Formulas and Equations) . He named the Wilhelm Von Wulf Library after his father* and Elizabeth Museum of Arts and Archaeology* after his mother. In 3/1001, Wulf while researching his father's old notes discovered his father belonged to an Order called the Radiance. He was able to find a out after spending a lot of Gold that his father died from over using this Radiance and many nobles belonged to this Order. He started gathering information and published a paper called the Putrefaction of Magic and Mystara. Barely, anyone read this paper until after the Wrath of the Immortals and the Meteor created the The Great Crater.

*Mirror leads to the Library and a Painting leads to the Museum.

The Council has tolerated the enormous effort Wulf devotes to intellectual pursuits writing about magic theory, running his school, monster biology, herbal medicine, geology, linguistics, and ancient technology [Blackmoor]. In 1011, Wulf will make a very public speech on the Principle Dangers of the Radiance and the Nucleus of the Spheres including full disclosure that his father died from the usage of the Radiance. However, a few (Members of the Radiance) will raise concern about his works and his alliance to Clerics but will for now be ignored.

Spending the time, the next check get +20%; however, if fails this roll the student cannot raise raise their level any higher [This for normal every day people not PCs or NPCs NPCs]

Example: A 3rd level MU is trying to get to 4th level and studies for 5 years and fails the roll. The Must study for 5 more years to get a +10% to their next roll. If the 3rd level, still fails and chooses to study for 5 more year to get a +20% to their next roll. The MU will still be a 3rd level after 15 years of study (and stuck there) or advance to 4th level. Remember, this is for normal commoners becoming Wizards not PCs/NPCs.

Well, Wulf Academy of Wizardry, is one of the lesser schools. I may do a Noble later, I was going to make Wulf a noble then I started researching and forgot how many died and were replaced between 995-1015 and need to do a lot more research. So, instead I created a Academy for Commoners or peasants.
